Pink is the colour of the moment. From Cosmo Pink to Millennial Pink, it's definitely earned its way in to the latest list of design trends.
On our radar at the moment; the highly Instagrammable Sketch Gallery located in the heart of London. Sketch is a multi-disciplinary hip restaurant-cum-art gallery. With everything from the upholstery to the uniforms being considered in immense details, it's easy to see how this has become one of the most talked about restaurants in the UK.
Architect and interior designer, India Mahdavi has created a striking, monochromatic interior, drenched in dusty pink, sitting under a majestic glass dome and finished off with a glorious multi-coloured floor. The 1970s design incorporates Bidendum-like bulbous chairs and curvaceous matching bench upholstered in cotton velvet finished off with copper bases. Picking up on the furniture are also copper bar stools, lamps and joinery edges.
David Shrigley’s witty outre artworks create a playful backdrop to the pink gallery. 239 new works line the restaurant’s walls, forming the largest group of original drawings David Shrigley has ever exhibited. The exhibition continues on the restaurant tables; a presentation of new work by himself and Master Chef, Pierre Gagnaire. The work consists of groovy new ceramic tableware, all exclusive to sketch.
Sketch is located in Mayfair London and all artworks are available to purchase via their website.
