Home Tour: The Beldi of Chan+Eayrs
The Beldi, a 265sqm loft, is a former shoe factory located in the heart of Shoreditch, east of London. The peculiarity of this plateau is that it occupies a renovated factory building. The only remnants of the factory are the original 30 Crittall windows found on all four sides, flooding the space of natural light.
Before beginning their project, the couple opened up the entire space and lived in it as is - soaking up the light and the contact with the outside. They in visioned the space to be a place of respite - a sort of hideaway in harmony with nature (explaining the green hues which follow through the entire home). The space compliments the view of the park opposite as well as contrasts with the urban jungle below.
The decoration is simple and refined. To reinforce this impression of a hut in the forest, the chosen materials - wood, clay - are prominent.
It does not seem that much work has been undertaken and the furniture seems to have found its place in space naturally. As you can see, the secret lies in the selection of vintage furniture and crafts.
